Sewing 102 is an ideal progression after completing Sewing 101. In this comprehensive 6-week course, you will construct complete garments using multiple pattern pieces, building upon the fundamental techniques learned in the introductory class while mastering new methods to elevate your sewing abilities.
Each week, you will select and cut a customized paper pattern in your size, then sew a finished garment. This hands-on approach means you will spend time understanding grain lines, preparing fabric properly, and learning the specific techniques required for each project before creating your finished piece.
Garments You Will Create:
- Dolman top or blouse featuring a professional bias facing finish
- Half-circle skirt with invisible zipper installation and facing
- Shift dress with integrated facing and hidden side seam pockets for a polished look
- Bucket sun hat with multiple curved seams for a practical and stylish accessory
- Wrap skirt with ties, featuring self-facing and functional buttonholes
- Classic t-shirt, an essential introduction to sewing with knit fabrics
Each class session begins with pattern cutting and fabric preparation, including grain line review and fabric conditioning. Throughout the course, you will work with different fabric types, learn the techniques specific to each garment style, and complete your projects. At the end of the course, you will have a complete wardrobe of garments you designed and created yourself.
If you have not completed Sewing 101, you may still enroll in this course, provided you can confidently operate a sewing machine and have the ability to create basic seams.
