During an eight-session weekly course, participants will learn the foundations of hand-building and wheel throwing ceramic techniques. Starting with inspiration from the Newark Museum’s ceramic collections, participants will create functional and decorative objects using pinch-pot, slab-building, coil-building, and wheel throwing methods. The course will cover the basics of working with clay and allows participants to trim, embellish, and glaze their works.
Registration includes instruction, use of studio equipment and tools, and 25 pounds of clay along with glaze and kiln firings. Additional clay, (glaze and kiln firings included) is available to purchase for $2 per pound.
