What you'll learn in this handbuilding class:

In this class you will learn how to make cups, vases, trays, containers and other functional objects by using various handbuilding techniques of pinching, coiling and slabs.

This is a terrific introductory class to working with clay, no prior experience is required.

Important Thing to Note:

  • The pottery wheel is not used in this class as it requires more than one class to complete work.
  • All pieces you make will be ready for pick up in about three weeks after the event.
  • Please note that the price is per couple.

Hello, what type of pieces will be made during the class? Could we make serving plates for example? Also, how many pieces per couple we get to take home?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Natalie! The students will be making a mug, they cannot do serving plates. The students will be taking home the mug they made. Hope this is helpful.

Question from Nikita S.
What do you mean by a $50 non-refundable deposit at the time of registration, and does the $125 course price already include the $25 firing fee?
Answer from Jenn C. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Nikita, Sorry for any confusion here! For the Couples Night - Handbuilding Pottery class, you have no additional costs to pay aside from the $125 course price. The $50 non-refundable deposit (which is now updated to $75) does not apply to this course, and the $25 firing fee is already included in the course price. Hope this helps!

The class was fun but I didn't feel like I learned anything new. I would've liked to see a few more techniques of how they make stuff in the studio and a bit of information about the glazing process. It was definitely not worth 125. And I wouldn't recommend this class to anyone

We enjoyed the class very much. Ivan was our instructor, and he was great! Would highly recommend—we are thinking of returning for another class!

This was a fun way to spend a couple of hours and i like that it culminates with you each making something you can have in your home. Maybe not to share with guests(i'm not an artist) but its a nice keepsake from a fun date night.
