Class Description

Description

What you'll learn in this sewing class:

The second in our Sewing series, Sewing 102 takes all of the beginner fundamentals learned in Sewing 101 and applies them to a more challenging garment.

We start with reinforcing all of our sewing essentials from Sewing 101, and then introduce students to more stitches & seam finishes and focus more closely on your sewing skills and reading a pattern. Each student will come to class week one ready to go with a preselected pattern and fabric of their choosing and get started with their garments. Our instructors are extremely talented and have worked in the fashion industry along with an education in fashion and sewing.

During this course you will learn:
  • A review of beginner sewing fundamentals
  • How to adjust a commercial pattern
  • How to complete garment construction techniques at an intermediate level
  • More stitching, seam finishes, and hemming techniques
Project: One completed fitted garment, either a jacket, skirt, dress, pant or blouse, from a commercial pattern.

Fabric and Supplies: To be provided by student.

Prerequisite: Sewing 101 or proven beginner sewing level.

The instructor was knowledgeable and courteous. When she recognized that I had received incorrect information about the course, she helped me to reschedule. In fact, the owner contacted me just an hour later! Incredibly professional. I'm excited to return.

Question from Camille r.
Do we have to come to class with a commercial pattern or one will be provided for us depending on what we would like to do?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi there, Cals! Students are welcome to bring their own sewing pattern, but the school sells patterns at the studio for $10 each. The student will need to supply their own fabric. Hope this helps!

Question from Ivy P.
Previous versions of this class had more than one session - will I still get something out of the class if I only join for one session?
Answer from Brenda L. CourseHorse StaffCourseHorse Staff
Hi Ivy! Yes, you would still get something even for just one session. The only difference is that the multisession class offers more sewing time. A one time class is an open studio. You will need to bring supplies with you to work on what you with. Hope this helps!
