What you'll learn in this social media marketing training:

Social media is an essential tool for boosting the presence of individuals and businesses. Writers of all kinds use social media to attract an audience for their work. And businesses of all kinds use social media to increase awareness and sales. It’s not just a good way to stay in touch or waste time; it’s a necessary tool for success.

Social media, however, is an evolving form, changing monthly, and you must stay abreast of the latest developments. Here you will learn how to best utilize social media, as well as explore the major platforms—Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, YouTube, Tumblr, Instagram.

Knowledge is power, and this course will show you how to unleash the enormous potential of social media.

The NYC One-day Intensives are seven-hour crash courses, giving you brief lectures that hit the high-points and writing exercises that let you immediately try your hand at what you’ve learned. Arrive in the morning with a desire to learn; leave in the evening as a more knowledgeable writer.

Intensives are open for writers of any level. Students must be 18 years or older.

Students may reschedule a One-day Intensive one time.

Social Media Intensive topics include:
  • Techniques for building an audience
  • Promoting a person or business
  • Understanding the major social media platforms

After that point, no credits are available.

The Social Media Intensive course at the Gotham's Writers' Workshop was a very enjoyable course. The instructor communicated well with everyone in the class and presented the material in a very comprehensive way through power points. I learned a lot from the class. I also hope to take the grammar class at the Gotham Writers' Workshop soon. It is a very nice program.
Social Media Intensive

I was very disappointed by this class. The instructor was extremely self centered. Every social media example he provided was of himself, his LinkedIn, his Instagram. He ignored student questions and refused to take a deeper dive into topics students were interested in. When I introduced myself he completely ignored me asking a silly question about where I worked although i had explained it in my intro. He explained that some of what I was interested in was too advanced and that some of the students were just grandparents that wanted to connect with their grandchildren. No one in their intro mentioned anything like that. Most were there due to interest in getting on social media to market themselves. I believe the course description eluded to something more advanced than "The first rule of social media is don't be stupid." He literally wrote that on the smart board. In addition to, the basics of the hashtag.
