Why are we here?
We stopped playing music so record companies started selling it. At the Foxgrove, we're putting the art of creating music back in your hands.
Music used to be a relationship between musician and audience. It was live, it was honest. Then came the record and recording changed everything. It brought music to more people, but distanced us from the musicians. It commoditized music, surrendered it to faceless, soulless conglomerates.
We're taking it back, making the music ours again, putting it back in the hands of the amateurs - the music lovers. We didn't start the fire, but welcome to the movement.
The Foxgrove was founded by music lovers who recognized a need to change the dynamics between musicians and their audience. We are a private electronic music and DJ school, an event space, and a recording studio. You’ll pick up the language of 4/4 and chords and synths, become a mixmeister, and record your first track.
The Foxgrove is for all. Come as you are, with passion and curiosity.
Putting the cool in school
It's fun to learn something new, and discover a world of possibilities. We took our time to craft the classes to be simple, interactive and fun. Unlike every school out there, we only offer no-commitment, stand-alone quick classes with just the right amount of information and play. The Foxgrove is created for the absolute beginner looking for a stylish creative hobby. All are welcome, no prior experience or knowledge needed.
We offer two types of classes: Electronic Music Production and The Art of the DJ. Both paths start with a self-contained 3 hour intro class, covering 80% of the most important basics in both worlds. Afterwards, if you decide to go further, you can take a 4-class more in-depth course, or opt for personalized private tutoring.
Notes: Students need to sign up at least 48 hours in advance. All single classes and courses need at least 3 signups, otherwise they’re subject to date changes and/or cancellations.
As a novice, it gave me exactly what I was looking for
The class was good, well detailed. However the time was too short to complete the tasks. It would have been better to add one more hour.
Loved the class and the teacher. Awesome experience - learned a lot!
Great introduction DJing class! No complaints.
Good instructor and class. Needed more time to finish putting together the song.
I really enjoyed the class. The space is nice and the teacher was excellent. It is really a nice introduction for total beginners which was perfect for me. They have samples lined up already so you experiment with the tools, but don't do any of the preparation. So it's a fun night out and inspired me to learn more about Ableton. This particular class is geared for people as an introduction, if you are more interested in the comprehensive details they have other instruction for that and private lessons.
I learned a lot! Great instructors and very welcoming, also individually checked us to see how we were progressing. Thanks! Would recommend.
Prepare to grin a painful amount. This place is a treasure - I would never have thought to go for a DJ class, but when my ops manager suggested this as an off the wall activity for a team offsite, I knew immediately that this would be a winner. Huge success, massive grins all around. You will surprise yourself, you will have a great time, the folks running it care about the craft and will give you the context and history to appreciate what you are now able to do, thanks to technology lowering the bar to allow you to get creative as readily as you snap a pic on your phone.
Just awesome! I grow up listening to DJ mix tapes, and this was truly a dream come true! So much fun to make your own mixes! I had a blast and know I can take these skills and easily build on! I highly recommend the class to anyone that loves music and mixes.
Amazing. It took something completely overwhelming and made it accessible and fun. I'd recommend it to friends.
