The School has been an essential provider of free books, information, ideas, and education for all New Yorkers for more than 100 years. Founded in 1895, the school is the nation’s largest public library system, featuring a unique combination of 88 neighborhood branches and four scholarly research centers, bringing together an extraordinary richness of resources and opportunities available to all.
Serving more than 18 million patrons a year, and millions more online, the Library holds more than 51 million items, from books, e-books, and DVDs to renowned research collections used by scholars from around the world.
Notes: NYPL walk-in classes may be subject to last-minute changes or cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances. Though such cancellations are rare, we encourage students to call the branch location on the day of the event/class and reconfirm before traveling.
I got a lot of great material on how to use my camera. The instructor was excellent!
The instructor was amazing and knowledgeable. There were many students that were at below the baseline for the course at it held the other students back a bit. Also the equipment is a bit outdated.. glitchy cpus and a blurry projector. Overall I learned a lot and the class was worth it, but a few things could have been improved.
I didn't realize just how beginner this class would be. I would say this is for people who are not comfortable navigating online and do not know what blogging is. If that was me and I took the course I would give it 4 stars. Personally I just twiddled my thumbs for 2.5 hours because I did not want to disrupt the class by leaving. The instructor was not very enthusiastic, which is why I took of one star.
Super informative. Very helpful for beginners. I suggest those who need to get familiar with Word take this. And it’s free!!!
Very informative with clear instruction. Took the time to make sure we understood and if we didn't, was not impatient when providing further explanation. Extremely professional!
It’s helpful and interesting
Outstanding! Jimmy was thorough, well prepared, and thoughtful in this presentation and answering our classes. What a gift! We suggested there should be a Part II.
A little slow for me
No one showed up for the class. And the library staff had no idea what happened. Very frustrating after traipsing across town in the cold.
I thought it was a good class.
