Agenda

Stepping into a supervisory or managerial role is a significant transition. The transition from being an individual contributor to stepping into a supervisory or managerial role is one of the most challenging yet crucial shifts in any professional's field. Research shows that many new supervisors and managers face severe challenges due to insufficient training and preparation.

That's where this program comes into play. Over the four sessions, we will address the core competencies and skills vital for success in your new roles.

Session 1 - Adjusting to Your New Role

This session is designed to help you understand and navigate the significant shift from being a peer to becoming a leader. The transition to a managerial role can be exciting and challenging as you begin to balance managing people while maintaining relationships with your former peers. We'll explore how to embrace your new responsibilities confidently and clearly, setting the stage for success. You’ll learn the key attributes of effective leadership, how to establish your leadership presence, and how to foster trust within your team. This session will provide practical strategies to help you shift your mindset, define your leadership style, and take control of your new role with clarity and confidence.

Session 2 - Delegating Tasks

Effective delegation is not just about offloading work; it's about empowering your team, fostering their growth, and ensuring that tasks are handled efficiently and effectively. This session will explore strategies to delegate tasks precisely while maintaining accountability and support. You’ll learn how to identify the right tasks to delegate based on your team's strengths, communicate expectations clearly, and avoid micromanaging while still ensuring accountability. We’ll also cover providing the appropriate level of guidance and support, enabling your team members to take ownership of their work and develop their skills. By mastering delegation, you’ll increase your team’s productivity and help build a more engaged and capable workforce.

Session 3 - Developing a High-Performing Team

Building a cohesive and motivated team is crucial to achieving success. This session will focus on creating an environment where your team can thrive, collaborate, and achieve outstanding results. You’ll learn the key factors contributing to high-performing teams: trust, communication, and shared goals. We’ll explore techniques for inspiring and engaging your team, fostering a positive team culture, and encouraging open collaboration. Additionally, we’ll discuss how to leverage each team member’s strengths to build a complementary and effective team dynamic. You’ll leave this session equipped with actionable strategies to boost team morale, enhance collaboration, and drive high performance toward achieving organizational goals.

Session 4 - Providing Feedback

Giving constructive feedback is an art that can drive performance and improvement. In this session, we will discuss how to deliver clear, actionable, and encouraging feedback that helps your team members grow and excel. We’ll cover the essential elements of effective feedback, including the importance of being specific, timely, and balanced. You’ll learn to approach difficult conversations with empathy and clarity, ensuring your feedback motivates rather than demotivates. We will also examine how to provide positive and corrective feedback to foster a growth mindset within your team. By mastering the skill of giving feedback, you’ll be able to help your team members improve, build their confidence, and increase their contributions to team success.

Optional-Leadership Insight Office Hour

The Leadership Insight Office Hour is an optional session for new supervisors and managers seeking guidance on leadership challenges. It offers the opportunity to bring your questions, discuss current issues, and receive practical, actionable solutions. You'll also collaborate with peers, brainstorming innovative strategies to enhance your leadership skills and drive team success.

Each of these areas is critical in ensuring you adapt successfully to your new role, excel, and lead with impact. By participating in this program, you invest in your development and your team's success.
