What you'll learn in this craft class:
Cold Process Organic Hand-Made Soapmaking: Colorful Swirls and Skin Healing Blends
Part I of the Certificate Course
In this introductory workshop we will learn the foundation for all natural soap-making techniques.
This hands-on workshop will take you step by step through cold-process soap-making, from choosing ingredients to curing and packaging. You’ll learn how to make creative designs using swirls and natural colours, and formulate soaps designed to control or alleviate skin conditions such as acne, psoriasis and eczema. Our materials will include organic base and carrier oils, butters, essential oils, natural exfoliants and herbs (Dead Sea salt, zeolite, sea kelp, poppy seeds, oatmeal, etc.) and natural soap colorants, such as charcoal, cocoa and turmeric.
This course is a requirement for the part II, Hot Press Soapmaking workshop.
Hot Process Organic Hand-Made Soapmaking: Marble Designs, Vitamins, and Beauty
A Certificate Course: Part II
Adding heat to the soap-making process speeds up chemical reactions, making soap ready-to-use much more quickly and allowing more varied and creative options in the use of essential oils, herbs, and natural colors.
We will learn how to make our own personal hot process organic soap recipes, working with new ingredients that can be used in hair and skin products, such as panthenol (vitamin B5, a promoter of healthy hair and skin) and lysine (an amino acid that renews skin elasticity). We will also make an amazing conditioning shampoo bar that can be used for both hair and as a shaving bar. Once you realize that you can create far better formulas than even high-end cosmetic companies, you will never go back.
Are materials provided and included in cost of the class? No.
There is a $25 materials fee for each part of the certification: Part one (cold process) and a fee for Part two (hot process), to be paid directly to the instructor.
It includes the materials that the instructor will bring in to make the soaps on each day, as well as an instructional DVD for each process.
Each day students will be able to take home what they make. A 2lb cold process soap for the first day and on the second day their choice of either a 2lb shampoo bar or hot process soap.

For Single Evening Events, Series, Half-Days and Mini-Workshops, Walking Tours, Single-Event Webinars or O’Cast™ Recordings, there are no refunds or course credits for these offerings.
For Full Workshops, Ongoing Courses and Webinars and Online Courses:
- Refunds are available minus a processing fee* if you cancel up to 11 business days prior to the first day of the program.
- Course credits are available, minus a processing fee* if you cancel up to 3 business days prior to the first day of the program.
*The processing fee for cancellation is $15 for programs costing less than $250, and $35 for programs costing $250 and up.
No refunds or credits will be given for cancellations less than 3 business days prior to the first day of a program, or if a student does not attend a program. The estimated refund processing time is two to three weeks.
