Class Description

Description

Join Grand Central Atelier graduate Allison Parker for three hours of assisted portrait drawing. Students work from a live model who takes a single pose for the entire session. Large printouts of classical techniques are posted around the room for students to review. Students will work on their own drawings with the instructor coming around to assist them.

While the model is resting we take “working breaks” when the instructor may demonstrate techniques or work on students drawings for the group. This is considered work time and conversations should be held to a minimum. There is one 10 minute "non-working" break during the session.

To get the most out of this session please arrive 15 minutes before start time with the recommended materials.

Important Things to Note:

  • Please note our drawing class policies which are designed to help all students concentrate on their work.
  • Models pose for 20 minutes at a time with 5 minute breaks between each pose.
  • There is an expectation of quiet while the model is posing and during "working breaks".
  • Cell phones (including texting) must be done outside the classroom.
  • Headphones may be used at low volumes.

  • Portrait Drawing: Long Pose

I loved the class with Allison. At each class (I've taken two), I learn something new about how I see and how I express what I see.
