Are you curious about art therapy? Maybe you are interested in pursuing a career in the field. Or you would just like to try art therapy for yourself. This six week class will introduce you to the basic concepts of art therapy with a different project and art material each week. The instructor will frame each session with a theoretical overview of the psychological principles that are activated with the project. Each class will include a brief lecture on the theme of the day, a hands-on art project, and an opportunity to process the artwork with the group. Please note: This class is not a therapy group, although personal material may arise during the class. The objective is to expose participants to art therapy approaches to enhance understanding of the field. Instructor will review New York State requirements for practicing the creative arts therapies and will make time to answer your questions about the profession.
Instructor: Lisette Soini, MA, LMSW, LCAT Lisette is a licensed master social worker and creative arts therapist. She is passionate about the use of art and creativity for wellness and personal development. She is excited to introduce the field to others.
