Unleash Your Inner Lead Guitarist
Have you ever wanted to play a sweet guitar solo but didn’t know where to start? This drop-in class is designed for intermediate guitar players who are comfortable with open chords, know and use barre chords and can play songs including single note runs, but haven’t yet explored single-note solos.
In this class, you’ll learn NYC Guitar School’s proprietary step-by-step lead guitar curriculum, starting with how to play major and minor pentatonic scales in one simple pattern and how to change keys. You’ll master essential lead guitar techniques like hammer-ons, pull-offs, slides, and bends, and discover how to choose the right scale, navigate the fretboard in three octaves, and unlock signature sounds like the “King Box” and the “Blue Note.”
You'll also get lots of hands-on time playing and improvising with others in a warm, structured and musical environment, including lots of real life examples and practical licks and exercises. So--it's fun!
You’ll not only build a solid foundation in lead guitar but also learn to think like a musician and elevate your overall guitar playing.
PREREQUISITES: You must have graduated from NYC Guitar School's Beginners Level 9 class or otherwise be familiar and confident with E and A form barre chords and have experience playing individual note riffs, licks or lines. Some familiarity with basic chord theory (Is, IVs, Vs, etc) is also helpful. You must be fluent in reading tablature (TAB) and be able to play the Lead Guitar Level I Warm Up! If you're not sure if you're ready, please enroll in the NYCGS Beginners program (find your level by playing along with graduation videos at https://nycguitarschool.com/graduate/) or sign up for a private lesson with a lead guitar teacher at Our Lead Guitar Page.
