Description

Private Picassos is an in-person & virtual art studio, offering art and cultural experiences for children and adults.  We bring our expertise in visual art education to our students in their homes, schools, camps, cultural venues and our Art Studio in Brooklyn, NY.

We believe in the intrinsic power of the arts and strive to help build self confidence in our students.

All of Private Picassos' art instructors have extensive experience teaching art to students of all ages, and almost all have degrees in art education. Many of our competitors hire artists, rather than art teachers. This distinction is very important; not only have our art teachers been trained in formal art pedagogy and have teaching experience, but they have also made a conscious decision to teach art to children and adults.

Learn new techniques with our trained instructors and explore art materials on your own. Create your own masterpiece without the restrictions of "copying" the teacher.

  • Learn How to Paint Flowers - Beginner Watercolor Painting (BYOB)

It was relaxing and meditational to paint flowers with watercolors. The supplies and needed materials were ready and plentiful, but the instructor was pretty hands-off. It was nice to have time to just explore, but it would have been helpful to have more targeted guidance while practicing specific techniques.

The instructor was a doll, but I was hoping to have more dedicated guidance on the course. I know two hours is a short amount of time to become an expert in watercolor painting, but we learned the basic foundational techniques of wet-on-wet, wet-on-dry, dry-on-dry. Beyond that, we didn't have enough instruction, rather we were given floral arrangements and were thrown in on the process. What I would have liked was more instruction on color-mixing, use of complementary colors, blending, and even more in-depth brush techniques.

the instructor was friendly but did not really teach us how to use watercolor or explained techniques unless you asked her how to do something.

When my friends and I arrived at the class we just sat down and we got a piece of paper and that was it. The lady our teacher she was very nice but didn’t explain anything. And as it is a ‘class’ and we payed 45$ each we kind of expected to learn something.

This was a fun class exploring water color! However, I wish there had been a little more structure to the class.

So fun and relaxing! Our teacher was very informative and gave us plenty of time and supplies to try out new techniques. I went with a group of four friends and we had a blast.

Very fun class in a small setting (4 students in total) which allowed the instructor to give everyone the attention they needed.

The space was very tiny because it was for little kids. In the beginning there was little guidance and instructions so people ended up asking lots of questions on how to start. There were only 3 color choices, and the options for take home projects were revealed at the end. The instructor did not walk around enough to see how people are doing. However, I enjoyed the exposure to carving stamps and managed to create a sham.
