Very much enjoyed this class and would recommend it to anyone who is looking to learn something new within Adobe programs. Stuart is a great teacher and would gladly take another class he teaches. I recommend that you come into this class each week with the full intent to take away something from it. Some weeks are more rewarding than others depending on what you want to take away. If you’re a student that doesn’t pay attention, doesn’t do the homework (or at least attempt it) and comes in late, Stuart won’t baby you. You’ll be behind, have wasted your own time and money, and might as well watch a youtube tutorial. I find that the program’s fundamentals are challenging despite going into the class knowing ai, psd, and indd. But, Stuart breaks it down with understandable real-life scenarios. I will say he goes a little fast due to the nature of the material, but he stops to check in each student. Regardless, his pace keeps you on your toes and he is effective in the content he shares. Regarding homework, it seems from the class structure it’s a mix of students and working professionals looking for extra education. There isn’t much pressure to do the homework in a way he wants it, just to do the homework and make it what you want as long as it sticks to the syllabus. Stuart makes the 3-hour course fly by because the class is filled to the max great material. I really feel like I’ve learned a lot and plan on taking more classes at Pratt.
I really enjoyed the course. The instructor was very knowledgeable and engaging. He had a lot of content to share and he made the course really interesting.
Carla Douglass is a wonderful teacher! She is dedicated, talented, super positive and kind and will help you grow as a graphic artist. The assignments are fun and interesting and you will learn so much. We learned how to do a calendar, music festival logo, posters for the subway, a magazine cover, to emulate a famous graphic designer and how to make our sketches into moving cartoons (mp4 gifs) and how to make them into moving puppets. Also advanced functions such as creating patterns, 3d sketching and perspective. I loved every moment of this class and learned so much. She has a great sense of humor and will help you grow no matter where you are in your graphic design journey. I highly recommend anyone wanting to learn more about illustrator to take this class. She is a working art director and will give you honest feedback in a kind and humorous way on what is done in the commercial world of graphic design. If she were teaching another class I would take it in a heartbeat. If you do the all homework assignments, show up for every class and put in the time to improve you grow by leaps and bounds and be amazed at what you can do by the end of class. Thank you Carla for all that you've taught me!
Stuart Rentzle is a teacher who is very knowledgeable about the basics of how to use adobe after effects for big name film studios and tv. I learned so much taking his class. The assignments we were given were fun and interesting. We learned how to make letters sparkle, burst into flame and how they do tracking with animated characters and how to do 3d worlds and timing with adobe after effects to name a few. If you are a dedicated person who is interested in taking the class, do the homework assignments and show up for every class, you will learn so much from this class. I only scratched the surface in terms of learning but have grown so much as an artist taking this class and can make my own simple videos! I highly recommend this class for someone wanting to learn adobe after effects if you are dedicated and willing to put the time in. My reason for removing two stars is that although talented Stuart can be very blunt and honest in class during a critique and will not hold back judgement when something is wrong. Yes, you can learn alot from him but you have to be able to weather his moods. Sometimes he can be very tempermental in class and not open to questions from the same people who continue to ask for help which is not great. I wish he would be a bit more positive and easy going to new people learning but I suppose no one is perfect. I plan on learning more and am trying to focus on what I learned from him to move forward and not the mood swings he displayed in class. I plan on taking motion graphics with Chris from what I learned from this class. Note for all taking this class be sure that the prescription for your glasses or contacts are updated because he goes very fast on screen and the words for adobe after effects on the screen are very small. Take detailed notes and if possible ask for a copy of what he has done so you can remember how to do your assignments when you get home later. It's very easy to forget how to do something unless you have something to refer to and continue to practice. And be brave and speak up ask questions if you are confused because others may have the same issue.
Very well organized, good presentation of techniques, helpful with suggestions and comments

Loved the Professors and Clean facility!
The teacher - Casey is exceptional! She is helpful and friendly + knowledgeable... also the studio is so nice, you get to work on your own bench and have plenty of space and tools to use throughout the course. Having extra studio time was also a plus!
