Tavia Sanza

Tavia brings a true passion for art and creativity. She received a merit scholarship and BFA from The Art Institute of Chicago with a focus in Sculpture and Fibers. She is currently based in NYC where she has been focusing on her couture jewelry brand. Early on, Tavia worked on events that created installations and other large scale environmental and atmospheric art. In more recent years she has be working on sculptural avant-garde fashion for magazines and runway events.

Tavia has been teaching art classes for over 10 years and believes that “art is a therapeutic act that allows us to search out parts of ourselves that haven't been realized yet”. Tavia's teaching style emphasizes each person's unique and individual needs. "My main goal is to offer support, most people come into art classes a bit unsure of themselves and the first thing is to always make them feel comfortable. All too often art is seen as being an innate skill we are born with, I believe this is just not true, creativity is something we all have inside us, it’s the technical skills that need development."  It is not Tavia's desire to project her particular style or approach onto others, rather she wants to help her students realize the ideas and creativity that lies within themselves, while giving them the foundation and skills to express their ideas.
