Alexa Bender was born and raised in New Hamburg, Ontario, Canada, where she began her dance training at Centre Stage Dance Studio, at the age of 2. She recently graduated from Marymount Manhattan College, with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in Dance Performance, and a concentration in Modern Dance. Over her four years she has had the opportunity to perform the works of Doug Varone, Aszure Barton, Kate Skarpetowska, Pascal Rioult, Alexandra Damiani, Norbert de la Cruz III, Adam Baruch, Anthony Morigerato and many more. She has also been a part of the MMC Dance Company, where she has performed at various venues in New York City and has taught dance lecture demonstrations to young students in the NYC school district. Alexa has completed her CDTA Advanced Jazz and Tap Exams with Honors and her Intermediate Level Ballet Examination with Distinction through The Society of Russian Ballet. Since 2007, Alexa has been training privately with Master Teacher, Paula Morgan, and is her assistant for many student and teacher conventions across North America. As well, she can be seen in The Paula Morgan Technique DVD series’ Levels 1, 2 and 3 and is currently working towards her Level 4 Teacher Certification in The Paula Morgan Technique LLC. In 2010, Alexa was part of the Paris Summer Dance Tour and has studied in Italy for four summers with Balletto di Calabria and LaChance Ballet on scholarship. In 2012, she was showcased in the CD Release of jazz singer, Juliann Kuchocki’s album, “Broken Compass.” She has appeared in a Chapman’s Ice Cream commercial and as a backup dancer on The Slice Network’s television show, “Party Mama’s.” Additionally, Alexa has taught at numerous schools and workshops across Ontario through FRESH Dance Intensive and is extremely thankful that she is able to share her passion with so many young, aspiring dancers at NYC Dance Arts!
