Education – Coach Noe Canales has played soccer for as long as his memory can recall! He grew up in NYC where he attended local schools such as PS 86, Thomas Edison H.S., Stony Brook University, and Hunter College Graduate School of Education.
Coach Noe holds a Bachelor degree in Psychology from Stony Brook University. Coach Noe Canales is also a NYS Certified Special Education Teacher in Early Childhood Education; and currently teaches at a local preschool in Queens, NY. Coach Noe Canales holds a D licensed from the United States Soccer Federation (USSF). Additionally, Coach Noe attended the College of Executive Coaching, in Pismo Beach, CA. where he received training in areas such as Appreciative Inquiry and Coaching, Emotional Intelligence and Coaching, Assessments and Coaching, and other vital field coaching techniques that continue to shape his approach to teaching across settings including the classroom and on the soccer field.
History with the sport – Coach Noe played in many local soccer clubs throughout NYC. He was the Captain and MVP of his High School Varsity Team at Thomas Edison High School. In 2001 he helped Thomas Edison win their division with an 11-0-1 record. Coach Noe Canales was a member of the Stony Brook University Men Soccer Team. The Seawolves are a Division 1 NCAA Program and play in the America East Conference. Coach Noe was an Olympic Development Program (ODP) Member and Captain of the Cross Island Blades Soccer Club.
He was also Captain of his Soccer Academy (Q.V.S.A.) Team “Estudiantes” under Coach Lopez, and played for several other organized clubs and tournaments including Nike International Premier Cup. He was a frequent Guest Player for other prestigious clubs such as Brooklyn Knights, NHP Wild Cats, and played in the BAYSL, LIJSL, and CJSL, and other NYC based soccer leagues. Coach Noe has been a soccer coach for over 10 years and is fluent in Spanish and English.
Notable activities – Coach Noe was previous the Director of Coaching & Expansion at Pro Socce (2013). Upon completion of his Master of Science degree at Hunter College, Coach Noe was awarded the Merle Frampton Certificate of Excellence and Outstanding Performance in Special Education Teaching and Community Service (2013). He was the Special Education Itinerant Teacher (SEIT) Program Coordinator at Los Ninos Services Inc (2013). Coach Noe served as an Advisory Board Member for Healthy Families at Morris Heights Health Center (2012). While at Los Ninos, Coach Noe Canales was awarded the Los Ninos Services Most Valuable Employee for company’s core values of Respect, Team Work, Quality, and Continual Self-Improvement (2009). Coach Noe was awarded the Athletic Director’s Award for Athletics, Academics, and Citizenship (2001).
At home - Coach Noe is married to his very supportive and caring wife Irene. Coach Noe is a daddy of an 18 month old baby boy named Alexander James. Coach Noe and Soccer Kids NYC continues to receive tremendous support for colleagues (Miguel Fonseca, Jose Canales) and specially from parents who have been exposed to Coach Noe’s teaching style!
