Amy Larimer

AMY LARIMER is a dance/theater artist whose work blends movement, sound and text and draws heavily on improvisation. Her work has been performed throughout New York City as well as at festivals outside of New York including: Big City Improv Festival; District Improv; Duofest; Out-of-Bounds Comedy Festival; Providence Improv Fest; The Twin Cities Improv Festival; the Abundance Festival in Karlstad, Sweden, The Crisis Art Festival in Arezzo, Italy and IMPRO Amsterdam. She was a founding member of Nicholas Leichter Dance and toured internationally with Leichter for 10 years. She choreographed and performed in Beth Portnoy's dance film "Gyre-ation" which has been presented at numerous festivals from Helsinki to Bogota. She received her MFA from the University of Wisconsin at Milwaukee and recently published an article on improvisation in the Journal of Dance Education. She is an Associate Professor and the Director of the Dance Program at Lehman College as well as the creator of The Raving Jaynes: Improvised Dance Theater.
